40. story and somatics with molly caro may
Molly Caro May (she/her) is an author of two books, teacher, and holder of space. For 13+ years, she has facilitated personal story workshops for more than hundreds of people across the globe. She is trained in Somatic Experiencing and focuses on where language/voice and the animal body meet each other. Her mission is to democratize expression and explore, in good company, the healing alchemy between story and nervous system.
This interview was a huge one for me as Molly is someone I look up to in so many ways and her book, Body Full of Stars, completely changed my life when I became a new mother of twins.
In this episode, Molly and I discuss:
Molly’s background and what brought her to writing, somatic work, and space-holding
Her experience with sharing so openly and honestly in her book, Body Full of Stars, and how she navigated sharing vulnerably and truthfully and the impacts it had on those she shared about.
Molly shares her work with expression that goes beyond the act and leads to metabolizing any narrative that has kept you stuck and how this process is experienced in her work.
We also explore triggered moments, overwhelm, and urgency, and Molly offers several super helpful somatic practices for being in your body and regulating your nervous system.
We close with the alchemy between story and nervous system and how we can explore the intersection of story and nervous system within ourselves.
You can find all of Molly’s work, including her books, membership, Story Mammal course, and newsletter on her website mollycaromay.com and you can connect with her on IG at @mollycaromay.
I hope you love listening to this beautiful and wise conversation as much as Molly and I loved having it! If you do love this episode, if it nourishes you in some way, please subscribe to the pod, leave a review and rating, and share it with a friend, thank you!
